Hi guys, I just returned from a business trip and thought you might like to see some pics I took. I stumbled on to these Jeeps as I was leaving a shopping mall. Spent quite a bit of time checking them out. I noticed several strange things like most of them are right hand drive, most are deisel, and at least one of them had really cool finned aluminum front brake drums. That is just a few of the differences I saw. Very cool find I thought. Let me know if anyone knows anything about these.

I was in Japan. I'm at a total loss as to what to think of them. The same town was also chocked full of Mitsubishi Jeeps. Those are almost as cool. Most of them Turbo diesels. Look like CJ3B's with CJ-5 fenders. As for the old military flatties???? I have no idea how I could ever get one home. It would cost a small or maybe large fortune to get one shipped out of there. I did have a few sleepless nights trying to figure out what I had just found. I went back several times and just stared at them. Cool.

Wow, Japan. Old cars are almost worthless in Japan though, because of the tax/fee structure. Nobody can afford the cost of keeping an old car on the road, with the taxes and inspection fees. Plus, you can't work on your own car to pass the inspection - you have to take it to a dealer. There's no DIY car culture in Japan either. Export would be good for those Jeeps.

Too cool...My dad had an M38 with one of those soft tops like in the second pic - (the one with the door window that goes nearly to the lower door frame) when he was in the army.

    Awesome find!

I tried to post some pics and brief description on g503 and could not figure out how to insert any pictures. I'm dying for more info on these.
A good friend was in Korea and said he never saw any right hand drive Jeeps or diesels. He is blown away by the pictures I brought back.
Check out the cool tail lights on the white Jeep!

They're probably doomed for scrap. They're no good in Japan, like Tim said, and the US Gooberment would never let you bring 'em here, so whatcha gonna do? What a shame....
