Are there detailed blueprints out there for any of the military trailers for Jeeps?

I have only been able to find one on craiglslist, and it was well over a thousand bucks.
I was thinking that I could build one for dirt cheap, and have something stronger, that I wouldn't mind modifying/beating up.

The best place I know for information on military equipment is G503.com . They have lots on trailers.

I am still in the process of building an offroad trailer for my CJ. I started with a wrecked M101 frame and axle, and cut it down to more or less the size of a 416. From frame up, I am building my own fenders, body, lid, etc... It would be very easy to make it more of a copy of a 416 or whatever, but I'm designing as I go.

The project has been dead since last winter due to work, etc... when I get more time after the mid of November, I'll be back on it.

    Here's the write up -- http://www.sanlee.com/jeep/cjtrailer/

Right now, the body is attached to the frame, both fenders are on, still need floor panels, paint, and the lid.

Colemans surplus sells 416 trailers for $750. They are in Pennsylvania and I'm not sure what shipping would cost. Here is a link to their mil vehicle page. Trailer down about 1/3 way.

    spud Nope..it's not finished!

Can't you buy just the tub from somebody??? I would just weld up a 2"x2" frame and buy a tub. A pair of lift springs and a straight axle from Tractor Supply and your in business.

The tubs alone don't show up very often - not all the trailers allow easy disassembly of the tub from the frame (my Bantam, for example, was all welded together).

Also since the tubs and frames are prone to rust its actually easier to find the parts you mention getting from Tractor Supply.

I would not use a axle from TSC for this... Unless you properly narrow it.

I built a Jeep trailer before, and the ones narrow enough aren't heavy duty enough for the job. I bent mine really bad when re-modeling the house.

Of course, the reason for this is even the narrow axle wasn't quite narrow enough, I had to move the spring perches in and use a large negative offset wheel to suck them back under the fenders, this moved the weight further in on the axle tube. Not that it would be hard to narrow the axle properly I guess.... But it isn't much more expensive to order a custom width axle from a regular trailer supply. Now I have to cut the axle and narrow it... but get the proper wheels.

Check Northern Tool for axles they have some narrow stuff.
