Question about 65 Tux Park

I have located a 65 Tuxedo Park that looks to be an unmolested original. It has all of the correct chrome pieces, including the front bumper, the column shift, and it is pretty straight.

But, it has a rear body extension on it however, that looks to have been on it since new. The spare tire and jerry can are mounted to the sides of this extension. I have seen pictures of these extensions on the CJ3B page that were installed on 3Bs. Apparently these were built by Koenig and were sold as dealer installed options.

My question is, were these available for CJ5s and were they built by Koenig as dealer installed options, or were they an owner installed aftermarket item.

I have tried searching both this site and the web and just can't find much info.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, they were available directly from Koenig and from the dealer. If they were available for the '3B, there is no reason to believe that they weren't available for the '5 as well.

Sounds like you have a sweet rig for restoration.

Oh, and I guess i have to say it..

Looks to me to be a great driver. I have not seen it in person yet, but I am going to.

    More to come,

Gasman (on the early forum) has a 61 CJ5 that came with all sorts of off the wall goodies, pto, giant saw, and the bed extender. Stuff is sitting in his yard, unused, took it all off to increase his "wheelability". That extender would make a nice alternative to a trailer...cool item. So that's at least one 5 that used one. Sounds period correct to me.

Wow, I've never seen one of those before. Very cool. It's amazing all the options the early jeeps came with.

I thought I might like one a few years back for temporary use (deer hunting: it's not fun stuffing a stiff dear in the back of a CJ5), but I got my Bantam for cheaper than the only bed extender that I came across.

I would rather at this point not to have these pics posted anywhere else. If I buy it, I will supply as many as you want.

After thinking about this overnight, I have decided not to buy this Jeep. I have health issues that caused me to sell my Rubicon, so a CJ5 probably won't work either.

If any of you are interested in this, PM me and I will try to hook you up with the owner.
