What am I doing wrong here?

After installing the carb the linkage appears too long, but it can't be. Same carb, same linkage, so it must be me. Anybody see what I'm doing wrong?

What carb is that? Is it the same as the one on your Silverado? Probably not but that might give you and idea.

It's shortened completely and the pedal is at closed throttle position. To even get close I have to depress the pedal all the way to the floor. Even then it's not quite enough. Its something I'm doing because it was fine when I took it apart.:v6:

Can't see what is wrong, but I am thinking its something to do with how your did the plate on the firewall with the levers. My linkage rod when its adjusted correct is about 8" long ball to ball. Here is a couple of pics that you might be able to spot was is wrong. Luck

are you sure that the linkage does not attach at the bottom where that nut is on the inside of the throttle bracket. just a guess.

Looking back and forth between Rocky's photo and Mike's, it looks to me like Rocky's point of attachment to the carb shaft bracket is a lot farther back than Mike's point of attachment. Not familiar with the V6 or the carb/linkage, but they don't look to me like they're attached to the carbs in the same place.

Could be because mine is not attached to anything. Its just laying there. Its the same linkage as the diagram and I got it installed correctly. Maybe the pedal arm got bent at some point. I guess I'll pull it off and see.:v6:

OK, maybe its me but it looks like its on backwards to me. Shouldnt that clip that is located on the pedal bracket be what is hooked up to the carb? thats the way it is on all the ones ive seen and on mine too. not that switching it would change the length but it looks backwards anyway. where is the return spring for it? with the throttle completely closed its too long? IIRC you can hook the linkage up wrong when you mate the airhorn to the venturi part of the carb. if you do it, then the throttle sits open instead of closed. that would be my first guess. the accelerator pump linkage and choke linkage is what im talking about.

It appears the accelerator rod was bent a little. A little muscular persuasion and everything is right w/ the world.:v6:
