Is there a way to test to see if it is alternator problem versus a voltage regulator problem short of taking it off and having an auto parts store check it? It is just barely charging, not enough to keep the battery charged. It has a seperate voltage regulator and a good battery

Clean all of your electrical connections real good. Look for corrosion, crud, rust, and loose/broken/corroded connections/connectors, especially grounds. Seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how many problems trace back to that.

Check with your FLAPS. I know out here in Denver, you can drive over to Autozone and they'll wheel their tester right out and test it in your vehicle. You have to have a fully charged battery, though. This is assuming your Jeep is driveable.
