Where is the proper location for the spare tire for a 72 CJ5? I have seen pictures of some mounted in the rear and some mounted on the passanger side rear. Thanks for the info.:)

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

with a tailgate, rear passenger side mount
with solid rear panel, on the solid rear panel
many folks relocated the side mounted spare to a swing out tire/can carrier rack across the back; that way, lowering of the tailgate is still possible.

See my avatar. There are only a small handful of us that run with the spare in the original location. It is so seldom seen, it is kinda cool. I like it, anyway.

You are right, it does look cool...I'm going to mount mine on the side also....What size tires are you running? Do they rub on the side of the tub? I think the original tire size was H78-15. Your CJ looks great:)

Thanks for the compliment. Please refer to thread "H78 x 15 rims" for info & photo references. Thanks again.

I don't know Tim. I still think the one's you sold me in April look better....Of course with my Jeep the phrase "lipstick on a pig" immediately comes to mind.
