Is anyone using 3pt belts like these?? If so do you like them or would rather go with a diff. style. I found a used set for sale and thinking about getting them. It appears that the shoulder part would be really close/rubbing your neck. Also not being able to use just a lap belt, and always have the shoulder straps on concerns me...

Thats what I was thinking, lap belt for normal stuff and shoulder straps for the hard stuff. But with the lowback seats it dosnt have holes for the shoulder straps. My thinking is with this set up I wouldnt have to fumble around looking behind the seat for the shoulder straps. I just dont want it rubbin my neck since it looks like the straps will be faily close once they get up that high.

i like the 3" set i have . i use the lap belt all the time . i have a bar welded
acrossed my roll bar for the shoulder belt to hook on for the low back seats.
    it works ok

Is yours like the one above?? B/c it dosnt look like you can use only the lap belt since it appears the shoulder straps are attached to it. So you would have both on all the time. My cage has that bar to attach them to behind the seat so that will make mounting them easy.

Those look like a pain to get into. I use five points with out the submarine strap and i like it. I use the shoulder straps all the time because the steering wheel is not padded and wouldn't be to kind to my face in an accident.

Jason, I've heard that you should not use shoulder belts with low back seats. YMMV :?

Just curious, is this seatbelt DOT legal? I have a group of friends that are drag/street racers and have been cited for wearing their 5 point harnesses because it wasn't DOT approved. Now if this is just a trail rig, disregard the question.

I'm certain the shoulder belts are not sewn to the lap belt. I would think they are looped in somehow. Check into it before you purchase them.

I looked into those originaly before I bought my 5pts. It seemed like it would be easier to get into and I wouldn't be tempted to not wear the shoulder belts. However I dislike the 2" width belts as the 3"s are much more comfortable. I even went ahead and got the padded shoulder straps for more comfort. I also didn't like not having the choice to wear the belts. Currently I wear just the lap belt around town or cruising on the trail, I use the shoulder straps on the highway and for something challenging. I also found out that those types of belts were largely made and marketed for the import wanna be raccer crowd. I guess I'm biased and irrational.R)

As for low backs, I think you just need a way to hold the belts in position. A crossbar on the rollcage just below shoulder height with some loops to hold the straps in position would work.

This thread also needs a pic so I'll go ahead and post one.

Good point made by Ghetto Fab about 3" belts. Well worth it. They're much more comfortable.

I used to have 2" shoulder straps and 3" lap belts in a 5 point harness
I had for my railbuggy. The seats were the polycarbonite ones you can
get for $40. Worked really well. After awhile I didn't use the shoulder straps.
Just tucked them in a slot in the seat. And hardly ever wore the crotch
strap. Really only wore the whole setup when off road. The rest of the time
    just wore the lap belt.

I've run both the 3 and the 5 point in sandrails.
I have pads for the shoulder belts.
Not bad at all after you get used to them. ;)
