What gets me is it looks like these Jeeps are sitting just off the parking lot of some sort of truck terminal, so there has to be a fair amount of people near them every day....and they're still sitting there, rotting away.

Yeah, it's killing me. I couldn't find something like that if my life depended on it.

I remember when I was about 15, there was a 1954 Harley Panhead in similar condition sitting beside the local dealership in the weeds. The dealer started it up for me one day, fired right up. Coulda had it for $400.

NO I don't have it yet. The guy won't be in to work until this afternoon. And yes it is sitting about 10 feet into the woods just off the parking lot of a trucking company. My father in law works for a gas company and they have a town border station right on the edge of the parking lot. The pipeline runs right under the Jeep. He asked about the Willys after I bought my CJ-5. He was thinking about something that he could use to putt around the farm on. He bought a 4-wheeler instead.

Tick, tock, tick, tock......time's a-wastin....And for god's sake, don't let the man know what it is, act like it's just a nasty old Jeep that needs a lot of work, money and parts.

this months 4 Wheel Parts mail out advertiser, Off Road Adventures, has a Jim Allen article in the back of the mag on GPs and MBs.
    might be worth a look
shows a restored GP and has other info as well

I missed him at work but my friend got a hold of him about the Willys and told him I was interested. My friend sent me a cryptic text message about the deal that he had worked out and that I was sure to like it and he won't answer my phone calls. He is calling me at home tonight to tell me.

If (when) I get this Jeep I won't be keeping it. I will make a deal with someone that is willing to restore it to as close to original as they can. I wouldn't want something that is rare to either rust away or be all cut up. I just don't have the time or the money to do it myself although I would love to. I am not looking to make a ton of money or anything I just don't want this Jeep to be lost. I also don't want to get hosed on a deal.

I know Bill F. expressed interest in it. I'm also interested but he's ahead of me. I'm pretty sure I could find a good loving home for it and it would definitely be restored. I'll talk to a couple of friends.

If I do end up getting the gp that means a almost finished m38 will be up for sale

You know I may be Wrong here but with as much rust that appears on this Script Ford other than a few minor parts theres not enough left o completely restore this thing or even close to enough. I'd bet that most of the bolts have the script rusted off of them, the grill looks good but the tail end is probably to far shot and so is the tub I would guess. The axles and transfercase are probably useable but the rest of it looks to far gone in my honest opinion. While I am generally gung-ho to restore something this looks to be to far gone in my opinion other than as a parts vehicle. I kinda hope I'm wrong though!!

although I'm inclined to agree with Mike, think about this:
compared to what other existing GPs that are still out there, sitting somewhere, waiting for their day in the limelight ?
supply and demand will control the market
