If you're poking around the internet, there's a car dealer called Vanguard Motors that has a 1973 CJ5 for sale and they have an excellent picture spread of the jeep. If you're doing a rebuild like me, it might be helpful to look at what parts go where. Whoever did the restoration did an excellent job. See if you notice something that I did however. take a look at the distributor...no vacuum advance?
Also remain seated and have your tray in the upright and locked position when you look at their asking price.

Looks like it was originally 492 Jetset Blue according to the tag and lots of mods to the dash/gauges. Its a very nice jeep, but the price!

AMC 20 rear axle :n: not that you'd be 4wheeling in it hard enough to break an axle!
    KPH speedo.
    Boat trailer taillights.
For a Jeep that nice I'd expect the spare tire mount holes to be filled in....for that matter, no spare tire.
Overall, it's a really beautiful CJ, but I'm kind of an addict of online car auctions, Mecum, Barrett Jackson etc & I've never seen a CJ5 sell for that kind of $$$.

Not an expert on ‘71 body tubs, but these had the early “JEEP” font embossed on the sides, but did they have embossed front floors as seen from the underside? Also, the hat channels look a little different (wider) from to earlier Kaiser CJs.
This being a ‘72, this one should have “Jeep” font embossed in the same locations, and AMC did change the front floors to the embossed pattern. Any owners of late ‘71s that can comment on the front floor embossing that may have taken place by AMC before the wheelbase was lengthened?
If my question above is “yes”, late ‘71s have embossed floors, then this example could be an early ‘72 using leftover stock from the previous short wheelbase model?

Jon B. Retired three times; still working.

My ‘72 and ‘74 partsmobiles have the cowl vent and hanging pedals…

Bump steer city! Dash decal for the transfer case shift pattern is wrong. Wrong axle and ratio in the rear. No bolt holes for the factory side steps. A very nice lookin jeep for sure, but very little 1973.

I suppose "JEEP" could have been scabbed on the cowl sides.

    Well lets pick it apart.
Stock clutch linkage. They should have upgraded to hydraulic.
Passengers seat still sits higher than the drivers. I couldn't deal with it and cut my bracket down.
I would like to hear it run. The exhaust running in the frame is great. There is very little room for mufflers. Milne is still loud. If anyone knows what mufflers are in this rig let me know.

My 73 has the swinging pedals and vent

You guys amaze me with your knowledge of these old girls. One day Elon will figure a way to download our brains any this information will carry on. I’m not too hopeful for the generation coming up to even come close to you guys, and our birthday girl…

Watching the video again, you can see it has the ‘72-up feature of the cowl vent as vtxtasy noted (as well as swinging pedals). I missed the cowl vent the first time. The center hood stripe doesn’t follow the raised center of the hood which looks awkward to me. There is the correct rear side marker on the drivers side, but I can’t tell if there is a recess in the sheetmetal that it fits into. The round passenger side marker is supposed to be in the center of the spare tire carrier that they left off. I wonder of that fenderwell has all the bracing for the carrier?
Good eye Ol Fogie on the transfer shift pattern being for a single-stick D18 rather than the D20 this Jeep has.
Still no ‘71 owners out there to confirm the embossing on the front floors?

My original paint/floors '71 does not have the embossing on the floors.
