Have been looking all over the links in this Forum and reading as much as I can on the Jeeps. I went and looked at a custom built jeep with a different opinion now. I was not impressed with what I saw either, now! I hope I can do a much better job beefing it up. This one was cobber up with plates welded all over the place, bad welds, blown out bushings, leafs rubbing on hangers, bent and out of line U/Bolts for the leafs, poorly run exsaust system ect ect. The guy wonders why it does not steer as good any more to! He told me he has over 11K into it but if you go under the body it is now junk due to his modifications!! It would be nice to see a good frame box job to get some pointers from. Glad mine hasn't been chopped up yet so it can be done right. Did not mean to rag the first post here but some sure mess up a good jeep with a welder doing it wrong! Glad your site is here, there is lots of information to get from it if you dig. Only been visiting a few days but now have a ton of stuff printed out to work off of. Thanks, Mark

There's some interesting reading about frame boxing on the CJ3B page.

Thanks glad I read that section on boxing in the frames. I copied it for more reading later. Looks like I will be inspecting for cracks and probley only beef up a couple spots near the Shackle Mounts and and a brace for a winch. I will try to use bolts only on 99% of it. Mark

i used 1/8" plate on inside and OUTSIDE of the frame when mounted the winch. made a big difference in the steering.

You have some serious body/frame mounts on your frame! I was looking at mine yesterday and need to correct a few myself. Since I bought a new Miller 210 Wire Feed welder I will be able to clean up a few things under it. They sure are nice for welding with! Mark
