Hi, When my Jeep has been sitting for a few days. I do have to crank alot to get it started. It needs fuel because if I put a few drops of fuel into the carb, it fires right away.
I have put a check valve before the fuel filter(carb, fuel filter then check valve then fuel pump).. This did not improve anything.. Could it be to little fuel in the carbs bowl, a weak fuel pump or something else?

    Thanks

    bluesmokemonster blue-smokemonster or bluesmoke-monster?

Definitely sounds like the carb is empty. But why only after a few days? An electric fuel pump will solve the problem but why is the carb emptying so quickly?

Before you try to start it pull the air cleaner and pump the throttle three or four times to verify no fuel.

If no fuel, check your float level and make sure your float bowl is full of fuel.

If the float is at the appropriate level, check the output of your fuel pump. It could be not filling the bowl all the way.

This may sound like a weird solution but I saw a guy on youtube with a CJ5 that had a somewhat similar problem. His fix (temporary) was to pressurize the fuel tank before starting, literally he put his mouth over the gas cap hole and blew into it. If I remember right, he said it was because of old/cracked rubber fuel lines back around the gas tank. Apparently those small cracks would allow the gas to creep it's way back into the tank instead of staying up in the fuel line. You might do some snooping on the internet for similar problems, it seems I read that somewhere also besides his video. Good luck.

What engine/carb are we talking about? I’ll throw out a guess though. If you’re running the 2100 on a 304 there’s a fair likelihood the power valve is leaking the fuel into the engine. Easy check is to remove the carb and abs pull the power valve cover. If it’s wet with fuel at all in there without removing the power valve the gasket is bad.
