I’m working on snowshoe and I have all the blinkers working (66 cj5 v6 with spartan turn signal switch). I have the 4 way flasher switch that goes on the dash from a 71 v6 cj5. How does it get wired in? I have all the original colors under the dash hooked to the spartan, black, brown, yellow, blue and orange. The 4 way switch has green (I think that’s power) yellow, brown and black.

I have the 4-way shown in my FSM wiring diagram, but it does not have the wire colors.

If that doesn’t help let me know. I don’t mind taking the dash out of mine and and taking pics and tracing wires. Mine is pretty much stock and the wiring (good or bad) is as well.

Another option is to go to the painless performance web site and download the wiring instructions for the CJ harness. The manual says that they tried to keep the wiring colors accurate, but jeep sometimes changed year to year.

Here's a nice 71 Renegade wiring diagram I found somewhere online. Colors are noted:

The wiring of the flasher is pretty simple. It works independently from the Spartan turn signal switch with it's own flasher.

An always hot power source goes through a two prong flasher to the input of the hazard light switch. Three wires come from the output side of the hazard light switch. One each is spliced into the front turn signal wires coming from the output of the Spartan. These feed each of the front lights. The remaining output wire is spliced into the wire going from the brake light switch to the input of the Spartan. This feeds both the rear lights.

When you pull the switch out it completes the circuit from the always powered flasher to all four light bulbs and they start flashing.

I scrounged around my parts and found the '71 harness I had and it had all the original connectors I needed! Now to just hook it all up.
