With the driver on the left side, my impression - the right spare is more practical.

Some CJ2A's were built with a left mounted spare.

Thanks timgr......... I'm going this way for 3 reason's ; I have loaded my right side heavier than the left & I can see it better . My DS mirror protrudes slightly farther out than my spare will. I don't want to be too Avant-garde , though. :worry:
Thank you, Doug.....I have located some more, but I'm gonna check out the CJ2A's.

1948 CJ2A "flat fender" is where you see a few.

Originals with the left side spare mount are referred to as "leftys" over on the 2A page. I'm not sure but I believe the left side mount is simply a mirror image of how it's done on the right side, though the inner fender support bracket may be different.

Google something like "cj2A lefty" and maybe some more accurate information will reveal itself.

That first post looks like a military M606, and also has M151 Mutt rims, front, rear, and spare.

For a very brief period, in '47 IIRC; my memory is a bit hazy as I hadn't been born yet. It was some kind of a regulatory requirement I think, there's an explanation out there someplace- maybe on the 3B page.
