Spring, 'n Shackle Bushings,..??

    Hi all,..... I bought a CJ 5 back 'round the 1st of the year, called a 1963,....
    With all the crawlin' around it, I Believe, 'bout the only things that are 1963 are the frame, axles, springs, transfer case, 'n the windshield frame,....
    It's got a fiberglass body, probably a generation newer, a Dauntless V6, 'n a GM TH350 transmission,....

    I just got the windshield frame rebuilt, 'n remounted,.... The proper frame to tub gasket didn't even come close to fitting, so I built my own,....

    Anyways,....
    The task at hand is, I can see that the spring, 'n shackle bushings are Beat,....
    I found these that say they fit from 1945 to 1975 CJs,.....
    They're poly, 'n greaseable, which is cool,.....

    My question is,...... Are the bushings on the other ends of the springs the same size,..??
    The back end of the front springs, 'n the forward ends of the rear springs, where they mount to the frame rails,..??..??

    That looks like a kit for one spring- 2 on the shackle end, 1 in the pivot. So yes, they are the same front and rear.

    Thank you, I suspected that to be the case, 'n the frame mounts measure right,....

    Be aware, my buddy purchased a set with a comparable picture showing shoulders on the bushings. He got a standard poly set with the drilled sleeves.
    Really disappointing as he spent a bit more for them.
    Let us know what you get, as I would love to run a set of shouldered bushings.

    I am planning to use poly bushings for an MGB in my shackles. They have a shoulder and are the right diameter and length. The ID isn't big enough for a sleeve though, so they might work better in an H shackle where the distance between the sides is fixed. This will keep the bushings from being squeezed too much when the bolts are tightened.

    MGB poly bushings next to a standard CJ5 rubber bushing:

    Just make them.
    All material from McMaster-Carr.

    The bolts are 5/8's for the shackle hanger and 1/2" for the spring eye, both made from Grade 9 bolts; bushings are Delrin, and I made bronze side washers for the spring ends.

    I could use 5/8's on the hangers because I made the hangers.

    Unfortunately, the machine tools in my shop consist of a couple of drill presses, 'n angle grinders,...

    I pulled the trigger on the ones in my link,..... I'll post back once I get, 'n try 'em,....

    Any reason not to drill out the ID's to accept the sleeve? Seems that may be the simple fix to accept stock shackles, which I prefer.

    That seems like it should work. You would need to source that sleeve though. It needs to be longer than the sleeve used with standard poly bushings because of the shoulder.

    I'm thinking, if the daystar bushings wind up being legit, then they may be a source for the sleeves.
    Just did a search for "spring bushing sleeve" and found a plethora of offerings. Might be something there as well.
