Looking For A 1 Inch Body Lift

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by Montgomery J Yarbrough, Feb 9, 2022.

  1. I have a 71 cj 5 and was wondering if any body knows of a good company that offers a 1 inch body lift.

Using “Energy Suspension’s” body mounting kit for vintage cj5’s will give you close to 1”
    They are 3/4” high

On an early CJ you have to be concerned about the pedals and steering column.

RATTYFLATTY I think you need a little more throttle

Been done many times by many people, including me.

Or buy a stick of polyurethane and make your own any height you want. It's a bit tough to cut but if you get a stick of PVC pipe the right diameter for a sacrificial offering, it cuts well with a fine tooth blade in a miter saw where you have good control over the length.

That is the vendor I bought most of my urethane rod from. It's one item McMaster-Carr has that is really way more expensive. Polyurethane rod is useful for all sorts of things including spring and shackle bushings.

The rollers for a boat trailer already have a hole through them. Could slice them on a bandsaw to whatever thickness desired.

I used the Daystar pucks with fender washers top and bottom on my 2a and plan to use them on my 71 CJ5 as well. They're about 3/4" I think and drilled for a half inch bolt. $30 on Amazon, easy peasy.

I picked up a piece of 1" thick nylon from my local plastics dealer for. Used my hole saw to make the pucks. I have found many uses for it.
