Well... I was taking the starter off so i could get the original mounting bolt through it, but when i was unbolted the top bolt, the mounting hole broke off, do not recommend this starter, it may fit your F134 Hurricane, but it is not made out of "real material", my dad calls it "pot metal". 20211002_114510.jpg

"Pot metal" is a zinc alloy. I suspect that's cast aluminum.

I have no direct experience with this but I've read in other posts that the upper bolt hole needed to reamed out some, perhaps if that was not done on your starter maybe that's why it broke

Reaming the upper hole is mentioned in post #95 of this thread and I recall it being mentioned by others as well.
    Toyota Starter on F134...fact!

ive done it on 3 jeeps, had to ream out the upper hole a smidge. you got a bad unit. i would try and exchange it. its a nice step towards modernizing an old jeep.

I broke mine off too and welded it back on. Its cast aluminum. It has been working great ever since.

I'd also get an Allen head bolt to go on that hole also. I haven't done mine yet but really need to so I can tighten it up better

I have one, had to mill a bit the hole but it works like a charm!

I installed one on my brothers F134, the factory starter was just dragging, but this new Toyota starter is great. Yes, had to open up the hole, but forget what bolt I used up top.

One of the best upgrades to my Jeep! I’ve put this starter on several Jeeps that I’ve owned and recommended them to Jeep friends with great success. Drill out the mounting holes and slap ‘em on.
My only worry: rebuildable cores are gonna dry up because we’re buying rebuilds with no core!
