Tag Cleaning

I need a suggestion on how to clean this aluminum tag without destroying it. It is very thin so I have to be careful.

 

A soak in vinegar will clean stuff up great...not sure how it will react with the metal though.

 

brasso and a toothbrush maybe?

 

I would just use a brass tooth brush on it
as you said it's thin

I typically start with the wife’s extra soft brush and sensitive toothpaste.

 

#0000 Super fine steel wool is very gentle but being steel is decently aggressive at the same time.

Seconded on the brass toothbrush, Brasso, metal polish, etc.

You can also use #0000 steel wool to clean glass of 'acid rain' (is that a real thing?) or hard water deposits.

 

No steel wool, will leave steel bits in holes and will rust. If you want to scrub it with something use aluminum foil. Get a cleaner for aluminum

 

Those tags are all pretty thin aren't they? Rather unimpressive and barely substantial.

I think it came out ok.

 

I like the washers to help hold the rotted corners down. Nice job!
