Getting ready to rebuild a T14 for a spare. I always use the Novak kit, but I see they are on indefinite back order. Any other quality kits out there?

Don’t know the answer, but I’m in the same boat so I’ll be watching this thread.

Regard my post on input bearings - Transmission Front Input Bearings

A rebuild "kit" should include both main bearings, seals and gaskets, blocking rings, and a "small parts kit" of rollers, bushings, and snap rings.

Unless there is obvious wear by inspection, you most need to replace the large input bearing and the second gear blocking ring. The 2nd gear downshift is really hard on the 2nd gear blocking ring.

It is possible to need replacement gears, and replacement synchronizer hubs.

If your transmission pops out of gear, it may be due to the internal bushing in the gear wearing out. This is common for the T-90, I understand.

I would put together the parts I needed, rather than a kit.

These are my opinions - I welcome input based on other's experience.

Informative, thank you. I would guess that you’re referring to my broken second gear?
As I stated in my post, I planned to rebuild this trans “later”, but I’m glad I found this. I guess later just came along sooner...

As for the rebuild, I am completely ignorant (if that wasn’t obvious) in the transmission area. If I’m going this far, why not go all the way and learn something while I’m at it. All it is going to cost me is time (and a few extra $$), but hopefully I will earn a little bit of knowledge!

Regarding speed shifting, you are probably correct. I’ve owned this Jeep since 01 Feb, and she’s been down since mid march. It had 35’s and a whomping stereo/amp/speaker set up in it, so speed shifting wouldn’t surprise me.
Also lots of little half a$$ stuff I’m finding but that’s for future posts.

As for Herm, he has the rebuild kits and my second gear, so I reckon I’ll be writing a check and licking a stamp!

    Thanks again for your thoughts!
    Andy
