74 Trans Skid Plate ?

    Just thinking about the skid plate and cross member on my 74. It is easy to bend if you hang it on something. Have any of you ever tried using a skid plate unit for a 76 or later jeep, they appear to be much more stronger with the crossmember and skid all made together as one piece?
    The frame may be wider on a 76 up I am not sure.

    The frame is wider. The front of the frame is the same width. Looking at the parts book drawing, the angling wider part starts well forward of the location of the skid plate / cross-member.
