    Hello,

Title says it all. Rear hub, one of two, not releasing even with puller. Hub warping with tension. Not sure what else to do. Sprayed with PB Plaster hoping that would help and am leaving puller on overnight with tension. Hope to have it remove itself...haha.

I am sure some of you had this issue. What helped. New hubs already in order since warped now.

    thanks!

I had an axle where nothing i could do would get the hub to come off the axle. I bent the hubs, used heat with the puller, PB blaster and heat, a punch and sledge hammer, impact wrench on puller....

I ended up scrapping the entire axle.

Load the puller as much as you dare, whack it hard with a Big Hammer on the end, tighten the puller more and whack it again. Be Carful it don't hit you when it fly's off.

This. Maybe even with an air-hammer. And some heat from a torch.

Assuming you are using the right type of heavy-duty puller, that bolts to the studs.

Tapered axles require a different hub puller than most. And they are always a bear to break free. Make sure you have the correct one.

May I also suggest leaving the nut on a few threads to keep that hub from flying through something?

When it pops, it pops and not much will stop it.

If you haven't already, Try heating it a few times and a high power impact wrench.

I've never looked but could a brake lathe true a warped hub?
I got mine squared up on a good ol machine shop lathe.

In theory, but it may not be possible to set it up to run on the hub.

I don't think so- you wouldn't be straightening so much as removing material from the high spots leaving it different thicknesses; it would almost certainly warp again very quickly.

Makes sense I pulled mine for a disk swap and both sides of the hub were turned so the thickness would still be uniform.

Yeah but uniformly thinner & less able to resist being bent. :)
