33s Vs35s

    Yep, fiberglass body & front end. And that is probably the ONLY Prius I would consider driving! ha ha

    Just for reference, here’s my 67 with 35’s (about a 4 inch lift I think). They’re too big in my opinion but the 33’s I had were shot so I replaced them with these 35’s that I already had. I think your choice to go with 33’s is the correct one.

    I honestly don't think those look bad at all, would want a little more lift though. Might have to re-think my decision lol

    Thanks! It may be difficult to see it in the photo, but the rear tires are super close to the front of the wheel well opening. My springs are so stiff that I don’t have much flex, and this rig pretty much only sees streets so it works for me. Any serious off-roading and the tires would be eating through the body.. Maybe it is time for some more lift!!

    One way to think about it is to run 33s generally requires about 2.5" lift or so. To run 35s, it's gonna be at least 4" lift and possibly some trimming if you plan to take it off road. A 76 would normally be a later generation, and thus you should have quite a few options from aftermarket suppliers. Now just my thoughts, but if I were trying to fit 35s, I'd consider an SOA with flatter spring for off-road use. But as the OP indicated this is a street queen, then the SOA is may not be the way to go, and a 4" spring under lift with minimal fender clearance might suit it just fine. Can always add an inch longer shackle if needed, just don't go overboard on long shackles.

    If you look at my avatar, that was my last Jeep, SOA with 35s. I ended up selling it before it got finished and have regretted it ever since, at least until now. I don't think that one would've been very suitable for street use though...

    My previous M38A1 had 33s, which I think looked great, but I thought were a little oversized for the running gear it had under it at the time. My current M38A1 has 31s, which I actually like better.

    Both of those look great! I went with the 33s, picked them up Saturday. Now just need the weather to cooperate so I can see what they look like on the Jeep!

    I'm a little late to the party but I agree 35's are to big without rear fender trimming. The front isn't as noticeable but they will rub all over also. As you can see here 33's are at the limit of fitting in the rear. The rears do rub the top, inner and front a little but my bumpstops are still just the stock ones.

  15. I agree with what everyone else has said with 33x10.5’s being a very practical choice. I run 35x12.50’s and it took a lot of modifications to get everything to work right. I think the proportions of the 33’s are more aesthetically appealing too.

    Plan on cutting out the grill area on the front end, it is just a flat piece and PO was trying to set it up to tilt forward. Don't like the way it looks with a flat front end and that piece is weak, found a fiberglass grille shell and will mount the hood and fenders to stock hood hinges so I can tilt it back.

    The bottom fender lip is always an issue with hitting the tire. Make sure you have a plan before you commit.
