I found a hairline crack around the bolt hole in the bottom corner of my '69 cj-5 tranny where it bolts to the transfer case. Does anyone know how I can seal it without removing it from the vehicle? Thank you.

Get it really clean (no oil) and JB Weld might work

A T-14? A new case is not particularly unobtainable.

Brake Clean it first to remove any Oil residue before you put any sealer on it, I would think Silicone sealer or JB would make a good, Temporary repair. Good Luck.

I've never had any success using silicone for that type of application. But if you can get it clean enough, JB Weld will work.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try the J-B weld.

I would clean the area, degrease it good. Take a dremel or die grinder and remove some of the surface on either side of the crack. Then apply JB Weld.
