V8 V Belt Question

what accessories get 2 belts? whats the advantage..

I get some horrible squeals when cold startup.. Took a look this AM and i seems I can put a double belt on either the AC/ALT or the PS pump.. should I double one of them up?

 

Good Luck, I have the triple groove pulleys, and the only place I could get matched belts was gates belts.
unfortunately their 53 inch belts (my power steering) measure 52.5 and won't fit. I managed to pry one belt on but could not move it to the inner groove.

 

i just pulled some ACDelco belts (gates) from the warehouse and will monkey around with this tonight..

but I guess my question is what accessory came from the factory with double belts, it appears (without measuring) I could do either or.

 

To your question, My pulleys came off a 360. The two belts powered the air conditioner pump and the power steering pump. the third belt powered the alt.

 

Air conditioning is the deciding factor, AFAIK. My 360 has dual belts around the crank, AC and alternator. The PS has two belts, but one of them goes to the air injection pump. Picks if you want. The '82 TSM has belt routing diagrams that may be useful. Apparently there was a 15SI alternator available that got dual belts without AC.

my truck is set up with AC and no smog... so I think I will go that route..

 

If Your having problems getting matched belts look for belts with the same mold numbers .
They should work .
