I just picked up a set of axles and for the condition they were in on the outside I was very surprised to find lockers that look to have never been run on the inside of both the front and the rear. Neither seem to have a manufacturer that I could identify. If you know who made this I would very much appreciate finding out. is it an auto locker (what I think of as a lunchbox or lockrite locker) or is it just a permanent spool?

it is not a spool. it is a lockright locker made by powertrak. it is designed to go inside a gutted open differential carrier. it gives you a locker without having to setup the gears.

Lunch box locker. A spool permanently locks the wheels together with no give. A lunch box lock will "unlock" when no torque is applied to the cross pin, like when coasting around a corner.

This is a very good video explaining how these work. The one I used to have in the rear of my 55 chevy didn't ratchet though, made more of clanking and banging noises and people would give me funny looks.

Judging by the housing shape, I think that is an AMC 20 rear axle. Not really desirable unless they have allot of work done to them.
Your gear Ratio is 3.54 and it looks like drop in locker to me.
