Seems like we've discussed this before, but I can't find it now. I need a replacement master cylinder for my 70...this is the dual master cylinder with the bolt on lid. All the replacement listing show a bail type which isn't correct.

Did you have to bench lead the master cylinder before installing it? To work properly

You should always bench bleed a master cylinder, there's quite a bit of air in there and trying to pump it out through the lines is not good.

you can bleed it in place...use the pedal...just leave the brake lines disconnected from the ports and connect them back...helps to have a plug (which often comes with new MC).

I’ll give that a try. Will it blow the plug out?

I wasn't impressed with the 945556 (Crown) master cylinder. It failed on me because an internal screw backed out, jamming up the mechanism and leaving me with no brakes, front or rear, with no warning.

I never ran across the 937815 MC from Willys Jeep Parts when I was searching. But it looks correct, is made in USA, and is substantially cheaper than the Crown unit. If I needed to buy one, I would give that a try.

Remove the plug to bleed...you will remove it to install the brake lines....
