just acquired an air filter housing for my Dauntless..
Correct year air cleaner for my motor and vehicle its in..
couple questions before I start rehabbing it...

Air filter is a generic wix number 42088 I believe..
Barneys Jeep parts offers a replacement grommet and hose for the breather..

anybody have a number for the breather itself that sits in the air housing?

Question for OP: You mentioned that Barney's had the grommet and hose, do you have one already? What does the quality look like? The grommet and hose is listed in the FSM as “Hose, Breather to Air Cleaner”. I posted a thread a while ago searching for that item and no one had a source. I was given the idea to adapt other hoses, from FLAPS, to replace the original (thank you all).
I contacted Barney's today and the hose that I thought was un-available appears to be obtainable. Barney has them for $29.95. Go to ebay and enter 173629806472 in your search block and it will come right up. Or, you can phone (740) 947-7030. Barney's info states it is a one model year only part- I didn't know that. Barney says these are 'factory correct and exact'. I ordered one today.
Does Barney have an un-obtainium mine? :susp:

I'm sure you can have molded hoses made to spec, if you pay a premium price. I presume that all these scarce/rare/unobtainable/NLA parts can and will be made if the seller thinks they can sell enough at a high enough price to make a profit. Or, the seller is finding a work-alike and possibly modifying it to fit. $30 is quite a lot for this part.

If you don't care about appearance, you should be able to substitute straight fuel hose and some kind of elbows to make the same shape. BTDT - I made a PCV hose for my J20 this way. With a right-angle fitting into the cover, you'd only need one bend. Or use a long enough piece of plain fuel hose that can be bent around to work.

Note that this hose must be oil and gasoline resistant, just like fuel hose. If you use a coolant or heater hose that's the right shape, it will not last. Heater hose gets spongy and comes apart in this application - BTDT.
