Just want to thank KenB and Lee Bennett for the speedo parts they donated.I was able to put together a single digit speedo that I hope is period correct for my '71 Renegade . The jeep is a survivor so I didn't want it to look brand new.The face is actually the original from the broken one that came with jeep. So parts from three speedo's and a set of gauges from Hermtheoverdrive guy and ready for service. thanks guys DSC03463.JPG

I think it looks great but the temp and fuel gauges are not right. Still looks good! You can get the correct temp and fuel gauges from eBay seller bluemoonscooter.
That’s where I got mine a few months ago when I “restored” my gauge. I found the needle paint at Hobby lobby, testors flourecent orange.

Looks good. Got one with the needle off. May need to rebuild one myself.

    Nice job.

It’s cool how he has these still! He had quite a few at one time.
A few other members have also bought one from him.

I bought an NOS speedometer from bluemoonscooter11 as well. It arrived in perfect condition, and he was great to deal with.

My only caution is that when I opened it up to adjust the odometer, I found that the original 1960's grease on the gears had hardened a good bit. I removed all of it and replaced with new white lithium grease:

I did the same, which I’m glad I did because the first one jammed up and the speedo gears inside may have gotten damaged. Need to open up and see what’s going on. I think the grease was hardened up, and caused the problem.
The second one is working perfect.

    BellhreyFarm ‘74 CJ5- Should’ve bought one sooner…

My speedometer from bluemoonscooter arrived today and it doesn’t have the color filters for the amps, etc. Did your speedo have them?

Hmmm, mine does have them - though I bought it from him probably 4 or 5 years ago.
