70 Cj5 Differences In Same Model Year

So, I have owned nearly a dozen CJ5's over the years including a 70 model exactly like the one I just purchased as a project. I know there were lots of changes in 70, but this one is odd ( just like us?). This one has the factory dual mc setup, but there is no access panel to get to the cover. The CJ is 100% original. Anyone have any thoughts why that would be?

What month was it built? I think AMC took over in April(?) of 70.

My 70 was all original, except for a different color willys tailgate.
And a radio hole in dash.
What do u mean access panel?
    Mine has dual resouvior MC.
To access mine, u open the hood and bend over the fender?

His MC is on frame underneath drivers floor board, thus inspection plate.

I have never seen a 71-older CJ without the access cover in the floor. Either someone has replaced the floor, or the tub isn't original.

The floors were unchanged through 1974. For 1975, Jeep decided to weld-in all the formerly removable panels, including the small round access hole IIRC. Floors changed completely for 1976.

Number is 358899. Built around September/October of 69, I think.

Looks original. No signs of any welding, etc.

Mine is located just behind the Ross box. My only way to access it is from under the vehicle.

But, it has the original vin plate with factory rivets. All other access panels in the floor look factory.

Lee, above did you mean to type '7o, rather than '79?

Sorry, fat thumb. Should read 1970. Thanks for the catch.

Looking at your photo, the access plate is just left of the gas pedal, located on the removable trans tunnel cover.
That, and your serial number plate on the firewall likely had 4 philips screws holding it on, not rivets.

Lee your access to the MC is the round plate with 4 bolts near the gas pedal. That should give you access to check fluid level and add brake fluid. Correct me if I am wrong.
