Running a Dauntless V6 in my 2A with headers, Offy 360, and Holley 390. Could use some tuning tips on the Holley. Already have vent tube installed and jetted down to # 49. Where to go from here.

What problems are you experiencing with it?

Interested in modifications that allow operations on steep climbs or extreme side hills or extreme rough terrain.

The spring loaded needles would be first on the list. I assume the 390 has side hung floats? I extended the vent to just a bit below the top of the air cleaner (which was a 6" tall one).

Seems to run fine in normal off road use but am concerned about steep angle climbs, off camber trails. What do spring loaded needle seats do?

They keep the needle from bouncing.
U can also lower the fuel level a bit below the sight plug.(helps keep fuel from coming out vent)

I ran the 390s before going TA470 and then EFI on the 225s. The Vent extension and spring needle seats are a must. You can also add baffles to the bowls and that can help quite a bit as well.

Just curious, what EFI are you using?

Started with the Powerjection system and have since moved to EZ-EFI. I have it running on the Red '51 and the Blue '49 - both with 225s and HEI (required). Going to put the Summit version on a '62 I'm building for my niece, and help my neighbor put it on his rig I built for him.

Video here for it running on the Blue '49
