Small Block V8 Headers

Anyone here have a good recommendation for headers that will fit in a '55 CJ5 with a small block 350 V8? Been looking at Advance Adapters but wouldn't mind finding something a bit cheaper...

 

AA may be the only game left in town. Hooker 9810's were great, the key word being "were". But even then, I don't think they were any cheaper than AA's offering. But then I haven't really looked for sbc Jeep headers for awhile.

 

I’ve had the same AA headers on mine for over 30 years. Bought the chrome ones thinking that would protect them, ha, they rusted between the tubes. Bead blasted them several times and painted em, look ok. I guess I got my money’s worth.

 

thanks, John. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow. For what it's worth, here are pics of both sides of the engine. There seems to be plenty of room on the passenger side, but the driver's side looks like it'll cause problems with the saginaw steering. Anyone use outside frame headers?

Mine are fenderwell headers. Not sure if anyone makes an inside the frame header for our years. Frame is pretty narrow. I guess a set of block huggers.

 

Was thinking about getting fenderwell headers but didn't want to cut into the fenders. Do you happen to have a picture of what yours look like?

I've used fenderwell headers with a 283 back in the early '80s and didn't need to cut or trim anything. They dove down the backside of the inner fender and turned under the floor just outboard of the pedals. I don't remember the brand.

Although not headers, the old chevy "Rams Horn" exhaust manifolds might work.
