I brazed up the hole in the manifold and the corner that was broken off.

And I cut out the manifold plate.

Got the plate brazed onto the manifold tonight. I did the inside and outside. Now it needs to cool overnight and some grinding done.

    Stoopid question perhaps but

    a) How hot does the exhaust manifold get?

    b) What's the melting temperature of brass?

The brass melts way higher than the manifold will ever get. It takes quite a while with the torch to melt it once it’s been laid on the cast iron.

Machined down the brass where the intake mounts and made up my adapter pipe to go from the rectangle hole to the 1.75" turbo inlet. Basically took a piece of 1.5" pipe and heated and pounded it into shape with a BFH and an anvil. I have to get a cutter to clean up the inside and then I can weld the pipe on.

I'd think about some kind of support for the turbo. Brass does like to crack...

Forget that pansy 4cyl. Cut out the inside fenders, a little stretch on the hood. Love it!!!

Nate, you ain't fool'n anybody here: you couldn't make yourself do that even if you wanted to--you have too much respect for history and old iron.
