Having trouble finding correct fuel cap?
Ordered one from napa , wrong.
I'd order online if I knew what fit?
I'd like the 3 insh one in chrome or stainless?
It's the correct tank for. A 70, but I think the fill tube has been replaced?
    Measurements are.
    Inside hole 1-1/2in.
    Inside notches 1-3/4in.
OD of neck is just shy of 2-1/8 in.
Neck sticks out of tub 7/8in, it should clear any style.
    Help?
    Don't want a locking cap.

That looks like a rear tank - was it an oem rear tank or a swap in (they started with rear tanks sometime in later 70 production)?

Its oem tank to my knowledge?
When placing gas nozzle in neck it feels funny, like it's going uphill slightly
    Before going down?
Anyway it don't leak, just need a better looking cap?

I believe that when searching for aftermarket parts - that vintage is often considered part of the 72-75 intermediate grouping even though it was oem for late 70-71 as well. I retrofitted one of these into my 70, and i got my cap from Walcks (for 72-75). Take note, in 72 the tanks were vented with charcoal canister I believe, so I had to remove a portion of the cap on the underside to allow it to vent through the cap.

This is what Walcks has now - it looks a little different (and better) than the one I ordered a few years ago as it looks to have the open vent through the cap. Bet this would work.

Napa's website shows a Balkamp 7031059, and it looks like it would work. Is that the one you got?

Aftermarket gets the year ranges wrong on Jeep parts all the time. I don't have a book for '70 or '71, but the '72 Jeeps all got vapor recovery with an expansion tank under the left rear fender. With vapor recovery, you get a non-vented filler cap. If you pick the '72-73 application for your cap, it may not be correct for a vented cap system. A non-vented cap used on a vehicle without vapor recovery can lead to vacuum above the fuel in the tank, and stalling due to loss of fuel delivery. It would be simple to add a tank vent to the nipples at the corners of the tank if needed. Access may be a problem.

My '74 book shows 994739 for a sealed cap. There is also a cap for export cars which I presume is vented, 991661 (makes sense since this is an earlier number).

For my rear tank (looks like it will work for you) I use a Stant 10623 and my front tank under the seat a Stant 10625. The both are non locking stainless steel.
