New alternator and welder mounted in the 3B, just need to wire it up. Finally got the correct pulley for the alternator so I can use the correct belt.

Premier Power welders was really cool, I’ve had this welder for 15 + years, it was in my old YJ, its been sitting on the shelve for at least 5 years, until I decided to put it in the 3B, i sent it Preimier to have it checked out, they checked it out and said it only needed a couple wiring connections fixed, they did it all for no charge.

Check the wires to make sure they aren't pinched behind any brackets. ;)

How high above the fender is the welder? I'm guessing it won't fit in a low hood jeep.

No pinched wires:D, my wiring is all done with crimp, solder and heat shrink connectors. I actually removed, and redid some more sketchy wiring.

It’s up that high because I have the space, it could go down probably even with the fender

Nice!! And I would have mounted as high as I could also-yea B's!. I was concerned about filling it with water so mounted mine with the face vertical and put a splash shield over the top.

Nice, I've been wanting to put one of these in my glove box area. Was the new alternator difficult to install and wire (for the amatuer garage mechanic like me).

I put it as high as reasonable. But they are pretty tough units, this one has been around for a while, had it on my YJ, And it was soaked a few times. Never seemed to bother it. I actually sent to back to Preimer to have them check it out before putting it on the 3B, They said it was fine. Had a couple of questionable connections, that they fixed for free while they had it.

    Yes wiring is very simple

    michigan_pinstripes I'm not lost, I'm wandering

I put one in my last 2A 10 years ago -- was a very rewarding project, I installed it in the same location! Military surplus off ebaY, ford big honkin alternator.

The problem I never resolved was keeping the belt from slipping when I was pulling amps -- which was pretty much any weld. The result was booger welds

maybe a cogged belt from a 671 Blower?
