Any info out there showing an original unmolested dash for a 67 ? Mines full of holes from 70s stuff

 

The FSM has a pretty good page in the back. Not much there. Speedo, key, headlight, throttle and choke, two holes for grab bar that not all of them had.

 

This one is a 69, not a 67. But, I think it would be about the same. The toggle switch next to the flashers and the push button by the key are not original otherwise, it's all stock.

 

My Tuxedo Park dash is like yours, Holes everywhere, I think when people get bored they go cut holes in their dash boards. The Tux is column shift and the dash has a notch in it for the shifter, but someone cut a hole for a radio left of the steering column, and a hole for a 5" speaker next to the glove box. They then drilled a hole here and there for what ever. I put a floor shift in my Tux, but kept the column shift parts in case I wanted to put it back original. I have got to admit, I cut a hole in my donor dash for a Kenwood slide out radio, but made it look like original. I like to play oldies in my old Jeep.

 

Check this guy out. I got my dash from him. Sent him pictures of the dash I had, that was all cut up. Marked up the old dash with notes on which holes that to fill in and which holes where needed. Sent back cad drawings of the dash for me to approve, made the dash. Good quality.

View attachment 41865 View attachment 41865 1967. I don't remember seeing any with the two smaller gauges. I don't know if they are original, but they sure seem like it. They have the little divot at the bottom to "level" the gauge when they are installed.

 

My '67 doesn't have the two smaller gauge holes.

 

AFAIK the only early CJ-5 with the extra gauges was the Renegade. They were to the left of the column.

 

Just feel the back side of the holes, factory holes were stamped, no burr, if its sharp weld it over with a washer behind it.

 

yep, the only "early" with gauges was the Ren. I recall the oil and amp gauges did not make the regular option list until 1972. In '72 they were black bezel and paired on the left of the driver. In '73 they were chrome and moved to flank the speedometer.

When did the ignition switch move from the right of the speedo to the left?

 

I believe the dash pictured by Johns 67CJ5 was used from the Willys era up though at least early '66 model year of Kaiser Jeeps. I believe the ignition switch moved to the left on the speedo for the '67 model year. My parts book doesn't show a serial break when the dash panel changed, only left or right hand drive, and column or cane shift.

My serial # puts mfg date somewhere late '67 (some math and average units/month- possibly early 4th quarter) ignition switch is left of speedo. Controls, etc are to left of column.

 

My dash is a 67. Ignition switch is right if Speedo
