Engine Painting

Hello amazing group! Anyone painted their engine in place? Tips, trick, paint used? Also, what about cleaning especially with previously painted now oily cast iron? Any knowledge help appreciated!

 

some people use engine degreaser, others use have used oven cleaners. tape off what you don't want painted and spray bomb the rest.

 

I made some aluminum blanks to cover where the gaskets go, it is not hard to do, and when you are done you take them off and put your gaskets on the bare block. You can add Mineral Spirits, to jeepstar's list too.

 

Hot water pressure washer, but be careful about delicate areas - like seals, gaskets, electrical....
