Can anyone ID this connector? Its on the back of my 66 cj that was used by the air force and the fire department. [IMG] [IMG]

Appears to be from the earlier generation MB / GPW type. (4-pin)

M38A1 era receptacle was totally different, in the time of CJs. (12-pin)

Not good for much in this day & age as there's no provision for turn signals.

I would think you could re-purpose the blackout lamp wires. But wouldn't turn signals and tailights only need three wires any way?

Exactly, unless Howard had a different idea in mind.

    Howard does not.

But what if you need to tow something that isn't a re-wired WW2 Bantam trailer?

Make a double-doodle adaptor. Or wye off a pigtail from the harness with a conventional connector.

But, yeah, I would swap it out. It's not appropriate for the Jeep's year anyway.

Are there wires hooked to the socket? If so have you tested any connections?

It wasent hooked up when i got it. It had a round 4 pin, extra lights and wires everywhere that were somewhat attached. I'm in the process of welding up all the extra holes now. And just trying to figure out what srays and what goes.
