When a Holley carb is running 500 bucks or so, this doesn't look like too bad of a deal if it works with the odd fire.

Hey Chuck, how about you try one on your Jeep & let us know how it works? :D
The only downside I noticed was the fuel pump not being included...that would probably put you up to a grand or so...

There are single injector TBI's out there- motorcycles use them as apparently did Suzuki GMl & Fiat. Not gonna say they're bolt on's but they are available.

Agreed - the FiTech is about a grand or 1100 with the commander fuel supply system which seems pretty functional. Can probably combine the FiTech commander with the Summit Racing for a nice set-up. Good to have options and competition for us buyers.

One question - because I am to lazy to look it up in our documented EFI threads - can any of these systems be run with the stock manifold - or must the manifold be converted to a 4 barrel compatible manifold?

These are all TBI style systems meant to run on wet "carb" intakes. Everyone I've seen is a 4BBL pattern.

Same here. You could probably adapt it to a 2 bbl but doubt it would work good.
One of these days ill get around to my megasquirt setup. That can use the stock 2bbl.

Good to have a few more options though. Would be nice if they offered a 2bbl version at some point

We'll see which one the neighbor picks this winter. He wants me to help him install it after the motor rebuild so I may be able to answer the question...

I don't have any spare running rigs right now as I'm spending too much time fixing the wife's Furd - it may be a '66 Mustang, but is still a FURD in my book.

I just built a Buick 252 v6. It is going in the 3b. Just thinking EFI because this Jeep won't be sold so money doesn't really matter on this one.

I translate that meaning their system requires an even tach signal. I'd think you could use a toothed wheel, or just divide the tach signal in half and tune as if you were running at half the RPM.

I might agree with you Tim, but the units are 'self tuning' and therefore dependent on a correct signal. What I find baffling is that so many others 'don't care' - just use the generic HEI filter they supply and it all works. Its RPM, so if it's off a couple ticks per min shouldn't matter too much. I really don't think their input is so tight since none control timing to begin with.

Yeah, I see your point. If they are designing a system from scratch, they could easily program a mode that averages over a small number of triggers. IIRC that's how Megasquirt handles a odd-fire tach signal. And I believe Megasquirt handles this all in software. This has to be trivial compared to whatever learning mode they built-in.

I put a Holley Sniper system on a '70 Chevelle with a 454. The customer opted for the Holley fuel tank. I didn't use the flex line, plumbed it all in stainless with AN braided stainless short flex at the tank and EFI. Same with the return line.
Worked great, easy to install. My Buick is an even fire, so I am thinking of going this way on my DJ/CJ build. I can't speak to the durability of the unit, but I was pretty impressed.

I just ran into a guy that bought a Howell system intended for use on a 225 …. I was shocked I talked with Howell a few yrs ago and they told me no way not enough interest the guy paid around $1300
