The electric wiper motors that was on my '64 are toast. Not really impressed with what is offered for our early CJs. So, Ive been looking around at marine wiper units, there are some of the that are completely water proof.

First I was just looking at the ones that were the normal sweep like the Jeep ones. But, now I'm looking at the parallelogram ones where the wipers stay horizontal throughout their sweep. Looks to me as though that would actually allow a little longer blade and would cover more of the windshield.

Any thoughts pro or con about the parallelogram wipers?

Look at the Marinco wiper motors. Most of them have an adjustable sweep angle. Problem with them is the shaft can't be shortened so order the one that fits. As far as the parallelogram arms, the arm length would be the same. It's design is more for a tall windshield but narrow in width. The blade however would remain vertical through out the sweep.

Do you have a brand or web site? I hate my electric ones. (Ready to take a hammer to them.) I tried to look for some. Found I couldn't find wiper blades.

Google AFI wiper motors. It takes you to the Marinco site. I believe the 2.5 motor is about the right size. They are not a cheap motor but will likely be the last wiper motor you'll ever have to buy. 3 year warranty too.

That's actually the ones I've been looking at. Definitely more pricey than the Omix ones marketed for early CJs but, these are actually waterproof, and definately look better. Only down side is if you like the plastic switches on the motors themselves like the Omix ones. Nice thing is you can wire them to a switch on the dash.

Check out Wild Horses Bronco Parts. I did a frame off restoration for a friend. The motors and blades they carry are like what I have on my CJ. They work great.
