Can anyone tell me if a Delco distributor for an OMC marine engine would work okay in a Jeep? A little while ago I bought a new (or NOS) 225 distributor. It is a Delco with part number 1110376. This appears to be for an OMC V6. Can I run this as is? If not can it be modified to be useable (Pertronix perhaps)? Or should I go out and buy another boat?

At first blush, I don't see why you couldn't run a marine distributor. A few things to check though. Does it have a vacuum pod? Also, some marine applications run reverse rotation when twin engines are used.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

1110376 is/was the most common Delco V6 distributor in use for the 225, marine or otherwise.

Good point. I will check the gear. It does have the canister on the side though.

This popped up while I was typing. Thanks. So should be an okay candidate for the Pertronix swap then I assume.

    Yep.

Usually no vacuum advance on a marine distributor. If you need one, I have a pile of them from throwing hei at every one that I run.

If you look down on the distributor from the top and the vacuum can is on the left of center then the dist is a CCW rotation and you can't use it.

You may want to chuck it in to a distributer machine and check the advance mechanism and curve . Marine would have a lot different characteristics then automotive application. May not even be marine with vac canister.
