This was a very simple thing to make, just one box stitch and one straight stitch. It's certainly a skill anyone can learn at the basic level, I can't make clothes, but can make basic repairs and put patches on my work shirts, and can make basic bags, covers, and other similar simple projects like that.

No way to sneak that thing in without dropping the crank. Not for lack of trying... Enginetech seal this time. Dimensions look better on paper  seal looks better , not as hard as the FelPro. We'll see put the pan on tomorrow.

  10. Finally finished rebuilding the carb and got it back on the A1 today. What should have been an easy afternoon project turned into a 3-week ordeal. A combination of a bonehead mistake on my part which ended up ruining the baseplate, coupled with some part ordering snafus drug the project out. Luckily I was able to find a decent looking Q-jet at our local pick-n-pull which I was able to use for parts. The 350 is back to purring like a kitten!

Tried posting pictures, but got the "uploads not available" message.

Doors always come off over 40°! Having somewhere to go on a chilly day is my happy place.

Thursday I took the kids out for a top down drive and something in the accessory drive was squeaking/squealing quite a bit. We got home and I put the stethoscope to everything I could reach and couldn't pinpoint the noise. I shut it down and even after the engine stopped you could hear the noise for second. I spun the fan by hand and heard it. The bearings in the fan clutch were notchy and bad. 40 dollars to Napa and 30 minutes later we were back in business with a quite accessory drive and only a little passenger side lifter tick.

I tried to fix my ripped seats with genuine 3M black duct tape. Maybe I've been watching too much vicegripgarage, but for me, the tape peeled back by itself after 24 hours. What's the trick?

The sealant is drying on pan gasket #3...
In an effort to check everything I found that the pan gasket sits proud to the rear cap by almost 3/8" Theoretically it could hamper the draining off the rear main bearing or funnel/pool oil to the rear of the pan. Especially if the gasket squashed or I was overzealous with the sealer. Note old pan with cork still attached.
I made a template of the rear cap, trimmed the gasket and was careful with the sealer. We'll see  my liver can't take much more. The last option is a rope seal ( which I think would be best) but it entails dropping the crank.
Torque the pan up later today, fill the oil in the am. IMG_20210306_124623694~2.jpg IMG_20210306_112633851~2.jpg IMG_20210306_112544292~2.jpg IMG_20210306_114624759~2.jpg

This big modification push is getting close to the end. T18 swap, hanging YJ pedals with power brakes and hydraulic clutch, parking brake delete, new ball joints.

Once I get the clutch to disengage properly I only have to reinstall one fender and the hood. Is this too many bolts to have leftover?

I’m really stumped by the five 3 3/4” bolts on the left?

Maybe try Gorilla tape. It's like duct tape on steroids. Or get a cheap slipcover on amazon.
