    Updated my driver's side muffler hanger...AGAIN!

    In post #2 of this thread I did this and the rattle is back and annoying.

    Finally got all of the heat shielding in place. Now I can put the skid plate back on and get ready to put the snow plow mount on. :) Snow is coming! :cool:

    Started this weed a complete teardown of the front axle (dana 44)

    After a good season of wheeling time to do some check-up. Having the pignon bearing completly destroyed i need to tare everything to clean all the metal part inside the carrier. No damage on R&P at least, but need a new bearing on the pignon.

    Also new wheel bearing and seal and it will be ready for winter season.

    Also in the next week i will start fab of the plow attachement.

    Cleaned and polished the Soft Top windows today. The first pictures are of the back windows and give you a general idea of the condition of all the windows.

    I used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner and Clear Plastic Polish. Just followed the instructions on the bottle.

    Took the cover, sanded it down to bare metal, primed and painted it black. Purchased Woodland Series Dry Rub Lettering, White, Gothic. You can find them on Amazon or at hobby store. Put the letters on cover, when done, clear coated cover. If you put a letter on wrong or you do not like the location you can rub it off. Take a picture of the cover before sanding so you will know spacing. Had to use part of the letters for the straight line.

    I started building speaker boxes for my stereo system install. Managed to size them so I can use existing holes in the wheel wells that a PO drilled. The boxes will be fitted with 5 1/4" speakers.

    Thanks. Appreciate the comments. I'd like to see your photos if you have a chance to post them up. I'm hoping this will work out pretty well as I can route the wires between the tub and roll bar mounting plate to try and keep things clean.

    I try to take photo when i'll be home.

    If you want suggestion, i fabbed my speaker box to be removable. So you can use watertight connector (see picture) so you be able to take those off the jeep.
    Also i did use two small 1/4" bolt trought the wood, glue from the inside of the box so they don't move or turn. Them made a small braket with two 1/4" hole and using two wing nut it hold the box on the body.

    Doing it this way, you be able to put speaker backward and play music for lunch with friend in the wood :)

    Thanks for the images! I like your bracket idea. That's very similar to what I am trying to do using the existing PO drilled holes. The waterproof connectors are also a great idea as I plan to make most of the system (including head unit and speakers) removable.
     
  16. I was able to get much done off my CJ's to do list. Swapped the tires down in size to 31's from the 33's that didn't clear well, but suited the need for rubber at the time. The biggest difference I noticed was the improvement in the braking. Had too much tail sway on the highway with the 33's because I had to run them at 18 psi to let the tread fully contact the road.

    Having that accomplished and having a bit of time, I pulled my cluster gauge out to replace the fuel gauge. I inadvertently burned it up by having the key on with the cluster loose when I was fiddling with straightening out the PO's messy dual-harnesses wiring. Lesson learned. NEVER have the key on with the cluster un-grounded! Anyway, the only good gauge I had was from the spare Willys pickup cluster I bought a while back on a parts deal. The E and F are reversed on the gauge, but it still fits and works as it should. Once I had everything back together I turned my key on and found out I had 1/4 tank. Went to the petrol station and the pump clicked off at 6.6 gallons. Turned the key on and it immediately read 3/4 tank. Started the CJ and the gauge went to full. Appears we have functioning fuel gauge again!:)

    The other thing I did a few days back was add a neat little set of DRL LED's. Found them at a closeout store for 9.99, retail was 24.99. They work good and look good.

    Now the CJ's to do list has 2 things left:
    1 - Re-mount the electric fuel pump on a secondary plate to insulate the noise better.
    2 - Add the running boards I got for 25 bucks.

    Great day for the Jeep, and made me smile for sure.:D

  18. No, it's not a Holley. Problem was the original aftermarket pump has been re-classified as "diesel fuel only". Guess there's not enough lubricating qualities in petrol to lube the pump. Guess that's why I got only 11 months out of it.

    I could only find ONE aftermarket pump that was in my needed pressure range (10 to 14 psi). It was rated well for reliability but had noisy during operation in every review I read on-line. The TBI 4.3L is why I need the 10 to 14 psi pressure range.

    Hum, i was using a blue holley , twice and they last 6 month.

    Did a lot of search on forum, because i have the same set-up (tbi 10-14 psi) and i've been running a E8094 for at least 10 month with any issues. Pretty quiet, can't barely ear it when you turn the key before cranking (it prime). WOuld recommend it for sure.

    Started cutting out the firewall on my CJ6 project along with odd and ends work on seeing how much rust needs cut out and what replacement panels it will need.
