Poor Dauntless Performance

    Pretty much what I stated earlier, compression readings are one thing but common sense looking at the parts is another..........can't see a reason to do much more testing unless you want to do a quick leak down and see if you have a burnt valve..............in either case whether you fix a cylinder head or a timing chain the core of the motor seems to be worn out...............It's a Pay me Now or Later question!

    Not that it makes much difference the reason I asked if that was an Odd-fire vs and Even fired motor is that the 3-bolts around the water pump attachment points favors it being an Even-Fired motor although there is a chance it could have been one of the last Odd-fired motors around 1975?

    Yep, that Block number is a 225..........Good luck on the swap!

    I would run a comp check on it before I installed it.
