Are those the factory springs?

 

I ended up buying 2 other Commando parts rigs for the build. A 68 for the frame and a 72 for the axles and sliding rear windows. I used the springs from the 72 and I believe they are stock but not 100% sure. This is the 68 parts rig.

 

Absolutely. My 61 has 11" power at all 4 corners and it stops great. Panic and all!

 

Rebuilt the transmission, transfer case and engine. Put them all together and dropped them in the Jeep. Also put a new LUK clutch kit #01029. After getting it in I noticed when I put the clutch fork thru its travel the throw out bearing doesn't quite touch the pressure plate. The fork hits the bell housing before the bearing can engage. The clutch kit is suppose to fit 67-71. I have a bell housing that doesn't require the adapter plate. Any ideas?

 

Are the throw out bearings the same length? When I did the clutch in my 68 I used the same part # you used. Shifts like a champ. Of course I had to mod an emergency brake cable into a clutch cable to accomplish that, but I've always worked with what's laying around first. I really detest opening my wallet! lol.

 

Just been out looking at it. Took out a finger type pressure plate and replaced it with a diaphragm type which looks thinner and can't find the old throw out bearing to check it. I did notice the clutch fork pivot ball is adjustable. I adjusted it out and I think it will work.

 

this has been talked about many times . when replacing a finger type . a raised diaphragm works better . and still works with stock throw out bearing / diaphragm type . I used a ford plate

 

Will this work by extending the pivot ball or do I need a different throw out bearing? Tried searching for the thread with no luck.

 

I can't say for sure . but it wouldn't hurt to try . the last transmission I got .came with bell housing . the PO notched out rear of opening to . I would guess disengage clutch . I still use the T14 throw out bearing , just the diaphragm type

 

Made some more progress ready to tackle the body work. Thought it had good rockers but when I flipped it over it had a lot of filler in them. Anyone know where to get a clutch fork boot for this application? It measures about 3x4". Engine fired right up after I figured out I connected the return and supply fuel lines backward.

Body work done and painted. Empire blue metallic. Had to get it done in a hurry, we put our house on the market and it sold in a hurry.

 

Dragged this poor guy home awhile ago, had a nice roof rack and hub caps.

 

Looks like the Jeepster was into Road Salts. Lol

 

When I put it on the trailer it was setting kinda level. By the time I got home it looked like this, lucky I didn't lose the body on the highway.

 

I don’t miss CNY winters. I grew up between Syracuse and Watertown.

 

Got the top done.

 

Jeepster 99 percent done, steering box on its way and a carb rebuild should do it. Its been a long build. Had to squeeze it in between building a new house, barn and garage. Going to really try retirement now.

 

swapping for power?
