i got my wheel horse deck all put back together. The belt was bad and with the angle drives you have to take it all apart to get the belt on. When i got it apart basicly needed an entire rebuild. the bearings were bad the gears needed to be shimmed tighter and the cast iron plate on the bottom was broke so i had to add braces. I got it all done and mowed the lawn. stalled it out here by the pond and it wouldnt start again because the starter belt was chunked apart. Fixed that in the field and finished up. Parked it in the garage and now there is oil everywhere. Seems like the pan gasket is bad so i guess iv got to pull the engine out.

I’m dying to get my hands on a JD 318, Wheel Horse 416, or a sears suburban. I had a sears FF-18 with the hydro lift deck and 3 point hitch. I miss that unit.

Gravely 8123 im trying to sell. Its just too beefy for my needs and takes up too much room in the shed. I like this wheel horse sofar its a good size. Kinda lacking power but it does ok revd up just have to wear ear muffs.

    Been gathering parts for a 23 T-Bucket project. Have a new 5.3 block in a separate goodie pile. Couldn't pass up the CJ5 so it will just wait longer 002.JPG DSC05004.JPG 001.JPG intake.jpg 001 (2).JPG front susp.jpg 517.jpg 1131.jpg

Cylinder head for the Z24 came today. Not bad for $335 and free shipping. Shame they didn't deburr the head after resurfacing but still not a bad value.

My '09 Ram's chrome Nerf Bars were in terrible condition. The PO had them installed by the dealership when he bought the truck new. I was prepared to go to the metal yard today and fab my own using the existing brackets and 2" X 4" tube stock. I woke up with a different idea...Why not? I had nothing to lose?

    $14 dollars later. [IMG]

    Here's what I did...

Tools. Some type of flap looking disc on the grinder. A chisel to pick off the chrome flakes.

    Some flap disc work. [IMG]

I put the mounting bolts back in to give the tube some legs for the top side.

Used some Purple Power and cleaned up the plastic.

Storm brought down a tree limb on the 720. Atleast it wasn't one of the jeeps. (y)

Got most of it sorted out.

If I’m not driving through the Arizona desert, I’m looking down at the Jeep trails from above. I love working on both of my projects. I’m a “retired” aircraft mechanic. I must admit I enjoy working on the 1968 CJ5 most because I can do whatever I want to it. Work on the 1946 Aeronca Champ must be done by the book.

I know this isn't automotive related but I hope it’s ok! I have a lot of other projects, automotive as well as around the house! Just thought I’d share the play house I built my kids. It has a loft, a stair case, and functioning windows. It has electric: outlets, recessed lights and a sconce light. It’s a home away from home! I drew it up on graph paper to get my dimensions proportional then started building. It’s a “treehouse” being that it’s next to the tree not attached to the tree in case the tree dies. All I need to do yet is put paneling on the walls inside and enclose the underside: one side will be a “garage” for all of their stuff and ride ons while the other will be a sand box.

It does not have to be auto related.

    Nice job. (y)

I sure did! They absolutely love it. One other thing I do need to do is add a railing. I used my Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax today on their stainless sliding board..they really move now!

A neighbor of mine worked at the Aeronca factory. He started with them in Cincinnati just before WWll, then enlisted. After he got out of the Service, he went back to Aeronca building Chiefs and Champs just north of Cincinnati until they shut the doors about 5 years later. He was a photographer, and had some really great shots of the factory post-war.
