Building a super 18 transfercase

Yeah it Is pretty cool how you can do that. I will have to post some updated pictures. I installed it last night. I took it for a 1/mile test drive everything seems fine. I also installed my offset amc 20 rear I just built and still need to make new exhaust and a new front drive shaft. I converted my dana20/centered diff to a dana18/offset diff so I can run an overdrive....do help out my diesel on the highway. I should have time to post some pictures over the new year.

Are you getting any vibration from the rear driveshaft?

 

Nope non at all. I was wondering how it would be since there is almost no angle horizontal or vertical. It is smoother than it was with the dana 20 (steep angle). I also thought the dana 18 would be noisier. It is quiet and smooth. So far anyhow.

This thread has been on my mind for a bit - local D-20 for sale and an extra large-bore D-18 disassembled for storage in the shed... Don't have a center'd rear axle, but it's an idea percolating...

Yeah this is an old one! If you use google chrome browser and run the google extension "photobucket hot link fix" it will allow you to see all the wrecked threads with photobucket photos. Thats about the best I can do. I have probably 100 threads over various forums that are dead now thanks to PB
