    Ok,
Got a break in the rain today, flexed the jeep as much as I could, and don't seem to be having any interference with the shock mounts. This is also without the wheel spacers I plan on using. I know that I'll get more flex on the trail than I can at home, but I'm feeling more optimistic about things.

Here's a shot from the front, I used my engine hoist, and then a ratchet strap to get the springs as compressed as possible:

Here's a couple of closeups, the shock only has about 1-1/2" of travel left in it:

With the 10.50 tires & 15x7's, maybe my clearance is better?

CJ6/442, do you see any more room for concern or anything I am missing?

Thank you for your observations and feedback

Yup, we're about 2 hours north of San Fran, The Gateway to the Redwoods.

Back in the 70's I hauled allot of loads of Structural Steel into Ukiah for GP and others , Remco Hydraulics in Willits , ship building in Fort Bragg and the Eureka lumber industry up North. Neat area along the old 2 lane 101 with the pleasant smell of burning wood in the air most days........brings back allot of good memories!

Very Cool! I grew up in the area, and have seen a lot of changes in a short 29yrs, but I still love it.

Had a break in the rain, and took advantage of it by throwing some paint around! It was still coolish, but thanks to my orchard heater (smudgepot) and weed burner I got it done. I'm not looking for a show jeep, so I went with the Majic Implement Enamel with Hardener/Reducer from Tractor Supply, Oliver Green, sprayed through my $10 harbor freight gun. I'm happy enough with the results, and am glad I can start moving forward again.

    Looks good jake,

It's amazing how much heat those smudge pots put out.

Got a lot done over the last couple of days. A week off work sure makes the project move quickly!

I got the tub mostly reassembled, rear corners, taillights and fuel filler installed. My paint isn't perfect, but it's better than I thought I could do my self. Next step is to re-line the tub, then insulation and carpet up front. Still have wiring, exhaust, brake & clutch master cylinders, pedals, and plumbing, paint my windshield frame, install roll cage, build seat mounts, driveshafts, and a lot more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

It's a great feeling to get to this point!

Yes, I got my clutch and brake master cylinders mounted on the firewall, after building some custom plates to sandwich it. I also got my windshield frame painted, and my throttle pedal mounted and throttle cable routed. I will take some pictures and post as soon as I have a chance.

    Thank you for the compliments

Well, I haven't updated this much lately, but I have gotten a lot done on the jeep. Pedals are in, battery is mounted, seats are in. Front brakes are plumbed, still have the rear to do. Trans tunnel is completed. Front driveshaft is in, waiting on my new double-cardan shaft for the rear that I ordered through Tatton drivelines. Winch is mounted.

Getting real close to driving this thing! All thats left is wiring, engine break-in, and then exhaust.

What is the synthetic rope weight class/capacity? Rig looks like a beast! Air cleaner looks like a tight squeeze.

I'm actually not sure of the actual rope capacity, but the winch is rated at 9500lbs. I picked it up from desert rat. It had good reviews, so I figured it was worth a shot.

Air cleaner is definitely tight. I might have to clearance a bit more, not sure how much the engines going to move when I put my foot in the go pedal.

    Thanks

If that beast goes as good as it looks, you have a hella good rig. Great job. Can't wait for the next pics.

Very nice build. I can't help but look at some of the pictures which reminds me that I need to learn how to weld, lol.

The goes part is what scares me! This is the first engine I have ever re-built on my own. Fingers Crossed! It's really gonna hurt if I have to tear the thing completely back apart if the engine fails!

Thanks to everyone, it looks better in the pictures than it does in person though.

If the engine fails you can join the novice engine rebuilder club with me:D
In all seriousness I hope your's doesn't fail. Worst feeling you can probably get. Although the engine I had was probably good for scrap already but,,,,,,,,,
