Just purchased a set of original R-G moons for my Tux off eBay. Can't wait to get them! They look to be in good shape from the pics. There was a mint set but kept getting out-bid. Went for over $300 USD.

image.jpg These are the one piece. Restored to the glory If your lucky enough to find some the biggest problem is that the tabs rust badly.

I will need to re-do the R-G on the ones I bought. Any tips on painting?
    Thank you,
    Roy :)

Well first thing is refrain from beer drinking the night before. Steady hand.
I used a paint pen for the letters. Very fine angled brush for the triangles. Do letters first and let dry . No smudging that way.
    Good luck.

Well they came today but will be wall art for the garage, they are to big for the 15x6 rims on the Tux. Should have done some research, since I know now there are two sizes. Also the diameter for the warn hub was to small, ack!

I think Timgr mentioned that the caps for the 15" and 16" wheels are not the same. It isn't much difference between them, maybe something like 3/8ths of an inch. I have three that fit my Commando. The other is out in the shed.

Those are really nice. I have a set on some skinny wheels that I bought on CL. Can't say much about the wheels but the guy said they were Jeep. Like you found, those caps wouldn't fit on stock 72 wheels. The main visual difference between the wheels they fit on and the wheels that they didn't fit on was the nubs that hold the caps on. The ones that they fit on had four nubs, the others had three.

For what its worth, that link to the hubcap ID page shows many of the styles used over the years, but the author is no expert on the subject (yet). There is some incorrect info there, so don't take this info as the "bible" on hubcaps. Much of the info is correct, and I give credit to QCJeep for attempting to put the info out there. Just don't cite this page as the last word on originality. It would be nice to be able to clean this up and get the errors corrected so we all have a reference tool.
I'm willing to add what I know, I just don't know how to proceed.

Are there two different size caps for the Hub lock out? (My warm hubs measure 4 3/8")
    Thanks

Good point, and see if QCJeep may take suggestion by PM. If your French is good so much the better!

Well, certainly the diameters are different. If you don't have the right overall diameter, it doesn't matter what the hub hole size is. I can measure the hole size on the ones I have for my J10, but that will have to wait until it's light and not snowing.

I have never seen the RWB moon caps except in the smaller 10.125" size for the 6-lug Wagoneer wheels. This is what I have on my J10. These definitely do not fit the factory wheels that came with my CJ-6. (I suspect Fesser does not have factory wheels). AFAIK, after the Red/Gold, there were only turbine caps offered for the CJs. There were turbines that fit both types of 15" wheels, using the same hub hole, and turbines for just the CJs, but no turbines just for the Wagoneer AFAIK.
