Do I need to use teflon tape when screwing brass fuel fittings into fuel pump and carburetor??

    Thanks,

Only if they are tapered pipe thread.

And, if you do use it, use it sparingly-----and try to keep the tape from even being on the first thread or two of the part.

Yes, only on tapered pipe thread.

    Never on a flare fitting.

FYI, you have to be careful with teflon tape on tapered threads. It makes them slide so easily that you can easily tighten them too tight and actually split the part with the female thread. (Been there, done that!) Also with brass fittings, there's not as much need for teflon tape since they won't corrode and weld themselves together the way that steel fittings will. Also teflon tape has a way of shedding bits and pieces and they can end up plugging up the carburetor, therefore I would try the fittings without tape and only use it if there's a leaking problem.

Teflon pipe dope is a better, no bits to brake off and clog things. Still use sparingly.
