Nice body AND already equiped with anti-dehydration fluids.....

Very nice. The litter carrier stuf is desireable - don't pitch.

Other will say nice, as indicated above, others will mumble foul words of envy under their keyboard breath.

    I'll stick with the "nice".

Nice. I always wondered why they have a different fuel filler, how is the tank setup on those? I saw once somewhere on the web a picture of the insert that fills the big passenger door gap and allows the use of regular CJ5/6 doors. Don't know if they were a factory piece or someone had fabricated it.

Thanks everyone. I found this jeep on craigslist. The picture that was posted on the ad was for a different M170 that was red and had a steel half cab on it. When I went to go look at that jeep, this black m170 was also sitting in the woods. I have only seen these jeeps on the internet and never in person and here I was looking at two a hundred feet from each other. The black one had less body rot so thats the one I purchased. The seller also had an fc150, two jeepster commandos, a cj2a, and a 1975 cj5 for sale all sitting in the woods. My friend bought the 1975 cj5.

I'm starting the teardown. The transfer case was removed while it was sitting in the woods, so the transmission had moisture in it. I removed the transmission and disassembled it. Looks like I need a new cluster gear and rear output bearing. I think I'll order a master rebuild kit as well and go from there. I'll post some pictures of that process in the near future.

Now THAT is a cool top! Earliest example of an "extended cab" pickup that I've seen. With a little ingenuity you could even turn that large passenger side filler panel into a suicide door and replicate the Chevy Silverado door opening arrangement. Cool.

you should have bought both of them just so you could have that top that is cool you will regret that some day

Yeah I should have bought both. The Red one is still availiable and the price is right, but I don't need more than two project jeeps right now.
