Front Crossmember Removal 66 CJ5

    Here was my quicky project of the day. Yanked out the ole plasma cutter and went to work. Going to build a custom front crossmember to clear the Saginaw steering. And yes I did measure the frame rail width before I removed the old crossmember ;)

    I will box the entire front portion of the frame rails, then install a piece of round tubing and weld in place. It will basically be just like this one I built for my last Jeep.

    I did a quick dry run of the Sagi setup also. Should work out fine I think.

    looks great..........so how are you gonna mount the center grill support/radiator?

    Looks good. Looks like the Advance Adapter gearbox bracket.

    I will either fabricate a bracket to weld to the tube, or I may try to salvage the original mounting tab and weld it to the tube.


    I think it is.

    I bought a whole kit setup from one of the members here. Had U-joints, shafts, pitman arm, brackets etc. I will only end up using the brackets, pitman arm, and U-joints probably. I plan to use the rag joint and postal column shaft.

    Nice approach. I went a bit different and drilled a hole tru the crossmember and welded in a pipe.
